Location

Our house is situated half way up the Elbe mountain slopes within 5–10 mins. by foot from Körnerplatz. From there (just by the landmark “Blaues Wunder” bridge) you can easily reach the city centre with very reliable public transport by changing at Schillerplatz on the other side of that bridge, within another approx. 20 mins.

There is 24-hrs transport at Körnerplatz and you also can rent bicycles there. Körnerplatz itself is a spot where to find a broad range of interesting shopping places for conoisseurs (book store, CD store, art galleries, fashion-, jewellry and home decoration shops and a inviting variety of cafés, restaurants etc. for all pockets). There is an Italian restaurant, and there is “Körnergarten”, a bohème biergarten (with good wheather conditions open from April–Oct.) right at the river.

Food and drug stores among others for your daily care can being found both at Körnerplatz or within a further 10 mins. walk over the bridge to Schillerplatz with its metropolitan shopping centre “Schillergalerie”. A huge cinema complex is part of that area.

Our house is an excellent starting point for hikers along the Elbe river slopes or towards the nearby “Schönfelder Hochland”, a rural highlands landscape with beautiful little vilLocations. Furthermore, Saxonian Switzerland (“Bastei” rocks) or the palace of Pillnitz are easy reaches.

At a 5–10 mins. walk you can reach both technical and artistic attractions as famous “Schwebebahn” and “Standseilbahn” (approx. 100 yrs.-old funicular public transport systems) and “Leonhardi-Museum”, one of the best public spaces for contemporean art in Eastern Germany.
